How we calculate

Geometry first, product data second

Areas and volumes use ordinary geometry. A foot is exactly 0.3048 metres, a cubic yard is 27 cubic feet, and a US gallon is 3.785411784 litres. Internally the tools use metres, square metres and cubic metres; switching display units preserves the measurements.

Coverage is product-specific

Bag yield, paint coverage, grout coverage and pack sizes are editable. Defaults illustrate the calculation; they are not a substitute for the product label. Waste is applied before rounding to full packs. Currency changes formatting only and never performs a currency conversion.

Checks and limitations

Formula tests cover independent worked examples, unit conversion, whole-package boundaries and invalid inputs. These checks validate arithmetic under the stated assumptions. They do not inspect your site, optimize cutting patterns or constitute a professional engineering review.

Rounding and precision

Calculations retain precision until the final result. Displayed values are rounded for readability, while pack counts round upward. Small quantities may use extra decimal places. Measurement error and real-world installation conditions usually matter more than additional decimal digits.

Corrections

Useful issue reports include the calculator address, unit system, input values, expected result and product information where relevant. Prepare a report.
