How to use this estimate
Measure the actual tile face and use the carton quantity. This deliberately conservative area method does not subtract grout gaps. It is suitable for a first purchase estimate, but it does not model edge cuts, reusable offcuts or a specific tile layout. For narrow rooms or large-format tiles, draw the layout before placing the final order.

A worked example
A 12 × 10 ft surface using 12 × 12 in tiles needs 132 tiles at 10% waste. With 10 tiles per box, buy 14 boxes.
Adhesive, grout, waterproofing, leveling compound and labor are excluded. Order matching shade and batch numbers where the product requires them.
Common questions
Why are grout gaps not deducted?
Ignoring gaps gives a conservative material estimate. Exact counts depend on row layout and how cuts are reused; a small area allowance cannot capture every pattern.
